New i1 products and price changes

X-Rite have announced a few changes to the i1 (Eye-One_ products:
- i1 Photo LT and Design LT discontinued (standard Photo continues)
- i1 XT price reduction from £1495 to £1100 RRP plus VAT
- New product – i1 Basic
- New modules structure enables customers to personalise their product to exact requirements
i1 Basic
The new X-Rite i1 Basic provides an entry level professional colour management solution that is easily upgradeable so customers can meet their individual workflow need. With the new module price, they will be able to add functionality at an affordable price. i1 Basic includes an i1Pro spectrophotometer and i1 Math software, limited to monitor profiling only.
i1 Basic has an RRP of £ 640 plus VAT (optional UV Cut)
Software Modules
i1 Input Module (scanner only) – £ 72 plus VAT
i1 CMYK Output Module – £ 287 plus VAT
i1 RGB Output Module – £ 143 plus VAT
i1 Beamer Upgrade – £ 143 plus VAT
i1 Digital Camera – £ 143 plus VAT
i1 Editor – £ 72 plus VAT

If I have other color management software (not X-rite)which support Eye-one pro, Eye-one basic is still fully functionable, so that I can use it for monitor and reflectance measurement ? Is there any limitation ?
